Firstly, we will congratulate you by securing an interview. Do you Research:   Find out as much as you can about the college or School you secure your interview with by looking at their website and social media, documentation they provide, before attending the interview please give as a call as we do have a great relationship with all schools we work with. We will get you up to speed by sharing their vison for the future as well as their latest news and information. Having research the school shows you are serious about the role.

Make sure to ask about the interview format, by doing this in advance will reduce surprises on the day

  • Is it an Interview panel, group interview or 1 – 1 chat?
  • Is it virtual or in person?
  • Who’s interviewing you?
  • Do you need to prepare an exercise, lesson or presentation before attending?
  • Will you be given a task to complete?

Find out the practicalities avoiding unnecessary stress

  • Address?
  • How to get there?
  • Check is public transport is running that day?
  • Where you can park if you drive
  • If it is virtual, check if your laptop and Wi-Fi are both working?

Get Prepared

Analise the JD inside out, write down example of experiences you have against each point, you may not have examples for all points if that is the case just prepare an honest response,

These interviews normally common questions can be asked, such as:

Tell us about your strengths and weaknesses (Remember to sell all your strengths), be honest about your weaknesses and how you are doing to improve them, remember we are all humans, and this shows self-awareness and initiative

Other common question can be how well you work in a team and handle pressure? and a what if…? to test your problem-solving skills, anticipate these by preparing in advance examples and success histories from relevant past experiences

Be Yourself

If you get stuck, don’t worry there is no harm in admit you are a tad nervous, take a deep breath and ask if they can repeat the question, at the end probably you will be asked if you have any question, prepare 3-5 questions about specifics for the role that hasn’t been covered.
